First Look at ‘Cars: Lightning Racers,’ New Disney Jr. Series Coming in 2027

First Look at ‘Cars: Lightning Racers,’ New Disney Jr. Series Coming in 2027

The new series will be targeted at a younger audience, rather than the typical all-ages target group for other Cars media to date. First Glimpse of New Cars Series Disney Jr. shared our first official look at the network’s upcoming Cars: Lightning Racers. The series was first announced back in August 2025 alongside a slew of other Disney Jr. projects. The still image shows the four main characters of the show, namely Lightning McQueen and Mater, the leads of most other Cars films and projects, as they are joined by two newcomers, Miles the green monster truck, and Pipes the purple drag car. The four are seen pictured below the single blinking stoplight at the main Radiator Springs intersection, just at the corner of Luigi’s Casa Della Tires. The new style is a notable departure from the aesthetic maintained by other Cars media to date. The characters are shown in smaller, cartoonish forms, more evocative of toy cars in shape and size, rather than somewhat realistically-proportioned vehicles in the series’ main films. The setting and background elements are relatively similar, perhaps a bit more vibrant, than how they appear in other productions. Miles will be voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, a prolific voice actor across various cartoons and other Disney properties, and Leah Lewis, who recently starred in Pixar’s Elemental in the lead role as Ember Lumen. Original Voice Cast Returns Disney has also announced that much of the cast from the original Cars film will be reprising their roles in the new series. Reporting from Variety confirms that returning voice talent so far will include Bonnie Hunt as Sally, Jenifer Lewis as Flo, Guido Quaroni as Guido, Lloyd Sherr as Fillmore, Michael Wallis as Sheriff, and Paul Dooley as Sarge. The latest confirmed castings follow previously announced leads Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy returning as Lightning McQueen and Mater. Additional returning performers include Tony Shalhoub (Luigi), Cheech Marin (Ramone), Bob Peterson (Wide Chick Pitty, later Chick Hicks in Cars 3), and John Ratzenberger (Mack). The series is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ and Disney Jr. in 2027. Judging by this first look, what do you think of the visual style for this new Cars series? First Look at New Queue Posters for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets

First Look at New Queue Posters for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets

A special press event earlier today revealed some of the first new aesthetic changes guests will see along the interior of the rethemed Hollywood Studios attraction. Queue Posters Themed to The Muppets ‘Electric Mayhem’ Photo courtesy of Laughing Place Disney hosted a special “listening party” media event in New York City on the morning of Monday, April 13, to announce new details on the in-development Muppets-retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The event, held at Rough Trade Records store in Rockefeller Center, offered guests a first look at a collection of posters that will be featured throughout the ride queue. Fellow Disney reporters over at LaughingPlace.com were in attendance, giving us a closer look at the new art pieces. One of the new designs, in the style of a classic rock concert flyer, confirms a variety of character appearances from The Muppets cast beyond the coaster’s “headliners”, Electric Mayhem. The full post text, from top to bottom, reads: G-Force Records Presents Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets All Rockin’ All Rollin’ All New, With They Whom As Are Known As The Electric Mayhem With Special Guests Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, the Great Gonzo and More! Summer 2026 Disney’s Hollywood Studios The other six larger posters are themed to the individual members of Electric Mayhem, with designs that include the characters’ names alongside other graphics and text evocative of each band member. Photo courtesy of Laughing Place The first poster features Dr. Teeth, the group’s lead singer and keyboardist. He is usually presented as the charismatic frontman of the group, with a flashy, larger-than-life stage presence. The top of the poster reads “THE DOCTOR WILL SEE YOU NOW” in a groovy, 70s-esque font. Photo courtesy of Laughing Place Janice is the lead guitarist, portrayed as mellow and free-spirited, and especially known for her relaxed “Valley girl” style of speaking. Her post suggests as much, reading: “LIKE, FER SURE”. Photo courtesy of Laughing Place Zoot plays saxophone and is often depicted as quiet and a little burnt-out, which has become a big part of his comic identity within the band. His poster reads: “WAIT. WHAT?” Photo courtesy of Laughing Place Floyd Pepper is the bassist and one of the band’s vocalists. He tends to come across as cool and self-assured, giving the group some of its laid-back classic-rock attitude. His poster reads: “REPORTING FOR DUTY”. Photo courtesy of Laughing Place Animal is the drummer and one of the band’s more marketed characters. He is by far the group’s wildest member, known best for his explosive energy and chaotic disposition, which defines his famously intense drumming style. Animal’s poster, very simply, reads: “DRUMS! DRUMS! DRUMS!” Photo courtesy of Laughing Place Lips plays trumpet and is generally treated as the last major addition to the lineup, joining during the later run of The Muppet Show. His poster reads “HORNS 24/7”. At the core of this listening party in New York, Disney announced the first song on the list of tracks that riders will have a chance to hear during their Electric Mayhem experience: “Song 2” originally by the English rock band Blur. “Song 2,” released in 1997, is a satirical song about the nature of grunge music. Its iconic chorus consists of many “woo-hoo” and “yeah, yeah” lyrics. The track is, unequivocally, Blur’s most popular release. Disney has said they will be “pulling back the curtain one track at a time” with regard to the “setlist” guests can expect in the new coaster. We suspect a new song will be released daily until the full announcement on April 16. Back at Hollywood Studios in Florida, the coaster show building’s giant guitar and upside-down car are currently being repainted. Inside the building, MuppetVision 3D props are expected to fill the queue. The 3D show closed permanently last year to make way for Monstropolis. Check out our last look at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, which closed permanently at the beginning of March. Are you hoping for any specific songs on the rest of the ride setlist? Let us know your favorites on social media! Imagineering Shares Behind the Scenes Look at the New Sound Design for Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger S

Imagineering Shares Behind the Scenes Look at the New Sound Design for Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger S

The interactive shooting gallery hides a subtle connection to the world of toys that inspired the titular face of the attraction. The Making of New Space Ranger Spin Blaster Sounds Walt Disney Imagineering shared a brief look behind the scenes at the sound design work that went into revamping Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom. In the short clip, Miguel, a sound editor/mixer with Imagineering, explained the surprising source audio used for the satisfying “pew pew” sound effect embedded in the ride’s handheld blasters: a toy slinky. Specifically, the sound of a suspended slinky being struck is one of five elements that comprise the final sound effects used for the blasters found on the Space Ranger Spin ride vehicles. The slinky sound is adjusted in a digital environment, layered with additional audio elements (which may include duplicating itself), resulting in the satisfying sound riders hear when pulling the trigger on the improved ride blasters. The slinky sound is adjusted in a digital audio environment, layered with two additional audio elements (which may include duplicating itself), resulting in the satisfying sound riders hear when pulling the trigger on the improved ride blasters. A separate, fuller sound effect plays when riders successfully hit one of the glowing targets throughout the attraction. As Miguel explains, two more audio elements are layered onto the slinky sound effect to generate the higher-pitched “success” sound. You can check out the full clip on Instagram and listen to the new audio yourself in the original post on Instagram. You can also check out the new blaster sound effects in action directly on the updated ride through our POV channel: If you want to learn more about the changes to the scoring system, targets, ranks, and other elements throughout the ride, you can find more info throughout our coverage on WDWNT.com. Crows Now Attacking Maximus Animatronic After Bird Deterrent is Added to Rapunzel’s Tower at Tokyo D

Crows Now Attacking Maximus Animatronic After Bird Deterrent is Added to Rapunzel’s Tower at Tokyo D

Tokyo DisneySea’s murder of crows has returned and has resorted to attacking the Maximus animatronic on Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival in Fantasy Springs. Crows Now Attacking Maximus in Tokyo DisneySea On April 1 (in what was not an April Fools’ Day joke), a video showed Fantasy Springs’ outdoor Rapunzel animatronic being attacked by crows. They were fittingly yanking out her hair to use for nesting materials. The animatronic was temporarily removed; when she reappeared in her tower a week later, she sported what appeared to be new, crow-proof hair. But crows are incredibly intelligent birds, and Tokyo DisneySea’s resident murder wasn’t about to be deterred from foraging around Fantasy Springs for nesting materials. They’ve now set their sights on another Tangled character with flowing locks: Maximus. A TikTok video shot on the Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival boat ride shows a pair of crows plucking hair from the Maximus animatronic’s mane and tail. One crow even stares straight at the camera. The video was shared by TikTok user myao_8888: @myao_8888 ?????? #?????? #??????? #???????25?? ? ??????? – – Watch our POV video of Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival here: Do you think Maximus is about to receive a new haircut as well?
