Disney’s Hollywood Studios is undergoing several projects, including the changes at Animation Courtyard, a new snack kiosk, and the reimagining of Muppets Courtyard. While not many changes have occurred since our last updates, we wanted to provide you with a quick look at the current progress. Hollywood Studios Projects Animation CourtyardToy Story Land Popcorn KioskFormer Muppets CourtyardAnimation Courtyard Most of Animation Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed to guests on September 24, including Star Wars Launch Bay and the Disney Jr. theater. The area is being reimagined as a new space themed to the Walt Disney Studios or The Magic of Disney Animation.The entire area is behind construction walls with the exception of The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure, which can only be accessed from the pathway running directly from the show entrance past Walt Disney Presents. Not many changes have been made to the former Star Wars: Launch Bay, although the sign was removed in October.The updated building will have a Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat facade, just like the real Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank, California. The facade also calls back to the former Disney’s Hollywood Studios park icon.For the building that housed the Disney Jr show, the bottom half of the building recently received new paint. Previously, it was blue and now it is the same tan/pale yellow as the rest of the building. The building that houses the Little Mermaid show also received fresh paint. There will be a “fresh Disney Jr. show” at the soundstage. Disney Jr. Play and Dance! closed on September 25, 2025, but the signage remains, so it is possible this will stay for the updated experience. The building that houses the Little Mermaid show also received new paint. The side facing the courtyard is painted, from the previous blue to the new tan/pale yellow.Not many huge changes have occurred in the last few weeks, but WDWNT will keep you posted on any major construction in the area. Toy Story Land Popcorn KioskMoving back into Toy Story Land, we’ve been watching the progress of the new snack stand located in the space previously holding a Toy Story Land sign. The new kiosk comes after Disney added shades to the Woody’s Lunch Box seating. Disney recently removed construction walls from the Toy Story Mania exit queue after nearly four years.Despite the removal of construction walls and signs that the new kiosk would open soon, the entire area surrounding the building still needs to be paved. It also appears that some small touches are still being added. Some fun details are the the frill-tipped toothpicks being used to hold the awnings above the food windows, corrugated cardboard detailing around the food windows, and pieces of “masking tape” to be used as signs above.Former Muppets CourtyardMoving to the area with the most upcoming changes, the former Muppets Courtyard is being replaced with Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, debuting the long-awaited Monsters, Inc. door coaster. Several changes have already been made to the land, but Gonzo’s Royal Flush appears relatively untouched. The building housing the restrooms and former PizzeRizzo will likely be reimagined into other locations. Along with PizzeRizzo, the former MuppetVision 3D theater is set to be reimagined. The attraction marquee for MuppetVision 3D was torn down near the end of October just after Wait Time and Lightning Lane signs. Not many other changes have been made to the building facade.Though buildings of Muppets Courtyard will be reused, Stage 1 Company Store was completely demolished. While we have see aerial photos of the progress, not much can be sees past the construction walls, although we have spotted a tall pile driver looming in previous updates.While the Muppets have been evicted from this area of the park, they are set to take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, currently starring Aerosmith. Disney recently shared new concept art, details, and logo for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.Which project at Disney’s Hollywood Studios are you most looking forward to? Following yesterday’s reports of Zootopia 2‘s Thanksgiving numbers, the sequel has now reached a huge milestone, receiving the designation of biggest global opening for an animated film ever.Zootopia 2 Opening Weekend NumbersAccording to Variety, Zootopia 2 earned $19.7 million on Thanksgiving Thursday alone. Per Deadline, the film also earned $38.5 million on Black Friday. The sequel has earned an “impressive $59.2 million domestically since opening on Tuesday night and [was] expected to collect $140 million to $156 million over the five-day holiday period,” based on numbers from both Variety and Deadline.The film has also become the first Hollywood movie to ever pass the  $100 million mark in a single day in China with dominating numbers across other international markets, as well.The Hollywood Reporter now has the latest numbers: With a near-best five-day North American start of $156 million and an astonishing $400 million overseas for a record-smashing global start of $556 million, the biggest worldwide start of all time for an animated film and the fourth best of any Hollywood movie, among numerous other records.Again, the success of the film is due largely to the amount of viewers in China. According to the report, it has now “the top animated opening of all time with $272 million…and is the biggest launch for a Hollywood title since May 2021.”With these numbers in mind, it is likely that the animated film with garner another “billion-dollar hit” for The Walt Disney Animation Studios,” reflecting the sentiments of Disney entertainment co-chair Alan Bergman: The incredible response to Zootopia 2 reflects both its worldwide appeal and the remarkable work of our filmmakers and cast. A slightly strange new dish is available at Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs in Walt Disney World. Read on to find out if the Salmon Dog surprised us in a good or questionable way.Salmon Dog – $18Salmon and cream cheese fried in tempura batter. Drizzled with Sriracha mayo and unagi sauce. Topped with sesame seeds. Served with a bag of chips.We’ve tried a lot of the corn dogs at Blue Ribbon, and so far this is the weirdest one. However, it might also be the best. The only reason we give it a 6 instead of a 7 is that the salmon is so soft, it falls off of the stick right away.Since they used tempura butter, it’s not hard like other regular corn dogs.  The salmon isn’t over cooked and the cheese and eel sauce kill the overly fishy smell and taste of the salmon. If you like baked salmon in general or any sushi with salmon and eel sauce or sriracha mayo, you’ll like this. We would come back and get this for sure. Again, it is messy, so be prepared with a fork, knife, and napkins. Just as we enter the comfiest season of all, several pieces of cozy loungewear have arrived at Disneyland Resort. LocationWe spotted some of these items at the Emporium in Disneyland and others at Los Feliz Five & Dime at Disney California Adventure. We’ll indicate where each item was found.Mickey Cozy V-Neck Sweater – $59.99This light blue, V-neck sweater is very soft and features a smiling Mickey Mouse on the front. Beneath Mickey’s face, in large block letters, is “MICKEY.” We found this sweater at the Emporium.Mickey Cozy Pants – $44.99In the same shade of light blue as the sweater, these lounge pants feature Mickey’s face in a few different expressions. Between the images of his face are little yellow twinkling stars. We found these also at the Emporium.Chip and Dale Cozy Cardigan – $59.99Chip and Dale are prominently featured on this soft white cardigan. Chip is on the right-hand side and Dale is on the left-hand side, above their respective names in large block letters. There is a thick, brown line flanked by thin black lines running down the center of the cardigan where the five ivory buttons are. We also spotted this cozy sweater at the Emporium.Chip and Dale Loungepants – $49.99These white lounge pants feature Chip and Dale with big smiling faces. Between the images of their faces are either fully colored acorns or outlines of acorn drawings. We saw these at Los Feliz Five & Dime.Lotso Cozy Hooded Sweater – $64.99Also at Los Feliz Five & Dime, we saw this fuzzy hooded sweater featuring the sweet-smelling villain Lotso. The sweater features two versions of his face, one smiling and one smirking, with images of strawberries and white flowers in between.Lotso Lounge Pants – $44.99The Lotso lounge pants have the same pattern as the sweater. We also saw these at Los Feliz Five & Dime right by the sweater.Mike Wazowski Cozy Pullover Sweater – $59.99Mike Wazowski is the star of this pullover sweater. The green, fuzzy sweater complements the two versions of Mike we see, with a different shade of green all over it. This sweater was at Los Feliz Five & Dime as well.Mike Wazowski Lounge Shorts – $39.99A pair of lounge shorts in the same shade of green also has the same repeating pattern of Mike all over it. The Meadow Swimmin’ Pool area at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is being expanded, and we now have an estimated refurbishment completion date. Meadow Swimmin’ Pool Expansion According to our reporting in June, the resort will get a new zero-entry pool and deck area alongside the existing pool, effectively doubling the space. Two new 2026 ornaments have made their way to Disneyland. These follow two other 2026 ornaments we found earlier this month. Light-Up Sleeping Beauty Castle Ornament – $29.99 Mickey and Minnie figures are in front of a flat Sleeping Beauty Castle. The base is teal with light-up starbursts and “2026.”The back is relatively plain other than a few more starbursts. A power switch and battery compartment are on the bottom. Mickey & Minnie Frame Ornament – $26.99If you’d like to frame a Disney memory, we also found this 2026 frame ornament. In the center, it features a frame with the Disneyland logo and “2026” written on the front. Minnie Mouse can be seen in the ear design on the right side, and Mickey is on the left ear. In the center is artwork of Cinderella Castle. On the back is a stand, in case you don’t want to hang your ornament, and the fastener for the picture frame.We found both at World of Disney in Downtown Disney. All three of Disney’s All-Star Resorts are now decorated for the Christmas season. Slight changes have been made from previous years, making the All-Star Resorts a great place to check out even more Walt Disney World holiday decor. All-Star Resorts Decorated for Christmas All-Star Sports Resort All-Star Music Resort All-Star Movies ResortAll-Star Sports Resort The resort’s green wreaths are topped with golden stars and full of blue, gold, and silver baubles. There are also things like small soccer balls and basketballs tucked into the wreaths. There is a wreath on wither side of the entrance. Each All-Star lobby features a Christmas tree that has special decor unique to that resort’s theming. At All-Star Sports, the Christmas tree is littered with sports-themed ornaments, including basketballs, baseballs, soccer balls, tennis balls, and more. In the lobby, star-shaped and sports-themed wreaths hang above the seating area and counters, covering some of the white stars on the walls.More wreaths line the walls in the pathway leading to the rest of the resort. Some of the wreaths feature full-size sporting equipment like a volleyball and net, a tennis racket, a Louisville Slugger, and more. All-Star Music Resort Hanging on both the front windows are wreaths topped with a classic red bows with golden stars. They are  full of gold, red, and blue ornaments including baubles, stars, and music symbols.A large Christmas tree features many of the same music-themed ornaments, as well as parts of instruments. This year, the tree has several large ornaments, including a guitar and piano keys. In the lobby, star-shaped wreaths with red and gold bows hang over some of the white stars on the walls. Music and instrument baubles have been added to each. The circular wreaths inside each feature a different instrument. A small guitar split into two different styles is on one wreath. Others have nods to a candy-cane-striped saxophone and different colored guitars and horns.All-Star Movies ResortThe wreaths at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort are decorated with film strips and silver reel cases, as well as red carpet-inspired “ribbon.”Just inside, there a Christmas tree decked out in film strips, silver reel cases, movie tickets, and a large clapper board.The star-shaped wreaths and tree are illuminated with yellow lights. The star wreaths have film strip-patterned bows, red and gold stars, and round baubles. Circular wreaths around the corner are also illuminated with warm, golden lights. Each is decorated with an array of film-industry inspired details that align with other decor around the resort. Most resorts at Walt Disney World are decorated to some extent during the holiday season. The refurbishment of Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort has been seemingly been extended by another year. Previously, the work was slated to last through July 2026.Bay Lake Tower Refurbishment ExtendedConstruction work began in September 2024. Through originally scheduled for completion in September 2025, the Walt Disney World website later indicated work lasting through July 2026. Now, refurbishment is scheduled through the end of 2027.Disney Vacation Club Refurbishment Announcement Per the Disney Vacation Club website, the refurbishment is now scheduled through “late 2027.” The announcement for Bay Lake Tower reads:September 2024 Through Late 2027 Refurbishments will occur in phases throughout select areas of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, including the atrium and Bay Lake Tower. Guests may also see and hear construction during their stay.For The Bay Cove Pool, the Cove Bar, the water play area and the whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower, the announcement reads: January 26, 2026 Through Early May 2026 The Bay Cove Pool, the Cove Bar, the water play area and the whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will temporarily be closed for maintenance. The Bay Lake Pool, the feature pool, the water play area and the whirlpool spa at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will remain open for Guests to enjoy.Walt Disney World Website Schedule The official Walt Disney World website still reflects the May and July 2026 dates for refurbishment to end. Although it is likely that the DVC site is correct since Bay Lake Tower contains many DVC Studios and multi-bedroom Villas. Like the rest of the resort, the rooms draw inspiration from Mary Blair’s artwork with mid-century-style decor and homages to classic Disney attractions. Disneyland postpones its nightly fireworks show until December 1, 2025, following a deadly apartment fire in Tai Po that left over 120 dead.

Guests are concerned that Disney continues investing in massive expansions while its current rides struggle to stay open.

Zootopia 2 has become the second biggest Thanksgiving opening ever. The film also smashed a record previously set by Avengers: Endgame.Zootopia 2 Thanksgiving Box Office According to Variety, Zootopia 2 earned $19.7 million on Thanksgiving Thursday alone. Per Deadline, the film also earned $38.5 million on Black Friday. The sequel has earned an “impressive $59.2 million domestically since opening on Tuesday night and is expected to collect $140 million to $156 million over the five-day holiday period,” based on numbers from both Variety and Deadline. Wicked: For Good grabs second place behind Zootopia 2‘s Thanksgiving numbers with $12.6 million. Despite its opening numbers, Zootopia 2 falls short of the 2024 record setting Moana 2, which earned  $139 million over the traditional weekend and $225 million over the five days. Previous films release on Thanksgiving with notable numbers includes Frozen II with $125 million over the five days and 2013’s Hunger Games: Catching Fire with $109 million over the five days (Variety).The film has also become the first Hollywood movie to ever pass the  $100 million mark in a single day in China. Universal may finally stop limiting the Grinch to the holidays and give guests a chance to encounter him throughout the year.

The Center for Puppetry Arts has announced in an Instagram post that the 12-foot statue of Kermit the Frog dressed as Charlie Chaplin’s The Little Tramp will be moved to the museum’s home in Atlanta, Georgia. “Charlie Chaplin” Kermit the Frog Muppet Studios Statue Gifted by the family of Jim Henson, the towering 12-foot statue of Kermit the Frog dressed as Charlie Chaplin’s The Little Tramp will be relocated to the campus of the Center for Puppetry Arts in Midtown, Atlanta. The statue has stood at the front gates of the historic studio on La Brea Avenue in Hollywood for the last 25 years while the property was the headquarters of The Jim Henson Company.The remainder of the post reads: Created to commemorate The Jim Henson Company’s move into the Chaplin studio in 2000, the Kermit statue represented a whimsical link between two visionary artists. Its new home at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta will ensure that the sculpture continues to delight and inspire generations of dreamers, while also reinforcing the organization’s role in carrying forward and celebrating The Jim Henson Company’s legacy. The logistics and timing of the statue’s move are still being determined. Rumors then indicated that the Church of Scientology had purchased the home of the Muppet studios.However, The Jim Henson Company will remain as a tenant on the lot. It’s been the company’s headquarters since 2000 but was established by Charlie Chaplin in 1919. Chaplin filmed The Great Dictator, The Kid, Modern Times, The Gold Rush, and more at the studio. Over the years, Chaplin sold some spaces and rented out others. In the 1950s, he sold the lot to real estate development firm Webb and Knapp.Red Skelton bought the studio in 1960 and named it Skelton Studios. He sold it to CBS in 1962 and they used the studio to film Perry Mason. Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss purchased the studio in 1966 and turned it into the A&M headquarters. The lot’s recording studios were used to record hits like We Are the World. The lot was named a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 1969.When the Jim Henson Company purchased the lot in 1999, chairman Brian Henson said, “When we heard the Chaplin lot was for sale, we had to have it. It’s the perfect home for the Muppets and our particular brand of classy but eccentric entertainment” (via Los Angeles Business Journal).CEO Lisa Henson called the lot a “lovable hodge-podge of quirky, unusual spaces. There are unexpected elements in some of the offices, like original vaults and fish-tank-like bathrooms. It’s not your typical corporate space, but it’s ideal for the Muppets.”The facility is 80,000-square-feet, including recording studios, a 10,000-square-foot sound stage, and original woodworking shop. When the Jim Henson Company officially reopened the lot in 2000, they unveiled the 12-foot statue of Kermit the Frog dressed as Chaplin’s character The Tramp.The Henson family soon after sold the company to EM.TV Merchandising, but repurchased the company in 2003.
